Summary: On the surface this hotel is fine. It’s clean, the vast majority of staff are friendly and it is in a good location. That’s basically all the positives. The hotel is very dated. Some room features are in desperate need of an upgrade, whilst others are just not present all. The breakfast was also basic and covered in flies. We booked a room which was supposed to have a TV, city view etc. None of these were present. Apparently all the rooms have had TVs removed as “everyone now uses a smartphone”. We could have seen past this if other basic features worked as expected (such as the door opening on the first attempt - rather than having to stand in corridor for several minutes waiting for the key to work). When these issues were raised, the manager promised complimentary laundry to compensate. We were happy with this and the rest of our 3 night stay was fine. Upon checking out, the manager point blank denied that he made this promise over the phone, leaving us no choice but to pay for the laundry, as we needed to catch a bus. This dishonesty, coupled with the untruthful and inadequate room facilities tainted our stay and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The majority of the staff at this hotel were more than happy to help whilst we were here and were very friendly. It is a shame that the customer service skills from management are not great. We booked this based on the good score it had but we are honestly not sure how this hotel has obtained such a good score…
